Happy New Year Everyone 🍾 🥰.
How often have we started the New Year with resolutions and all good intentions? I wonder when life gets too busy, do we really have time to achieve those resolutions? Is there a more compassionate way to connect to our True Self, to experience personal growth and transformation?
This year, instead of thinking about a list of new year resolutions, I’m inviting you all to let 2026 be the year where yoga heals. Yoga - a union of mind, body and spirit. For you to practice a more gentle, calm and compassionate style of yoga, still through the lens of Hatha Yoga, but with a sense of meeting yourself where you are today. Where yoga nourishes you each moment of the day, harmonising body and mind.
In our yoga sessions we will continue to interweave asana with meditation, pranayama, yoga nidra and maybe even mantra if it feels right to do so. We will also continue with special themes, whether philosophical or anatomical, working with seasons, the elements or the subtle energies, being creative but with the aim of making your yoga an experiential journey.
And by experiential, I mean becoming aware of the personal sensations and self-awareness that you experience through your yoga practice, rather than relying on technique or doctrine. Self-enquiry and engaging with the mind-body-spirit connection, yet remaining grounded in the present. You can come into yoga gently and as the authentic you, experiencing the reuniting of mind body and spirit, letting your inner consciousness sand awareness to shine through in asana or pranayama or in your meditation. Learning through reflection.
As the journey of healing through yoga deepens, we are able to take the benefits of this holistic body and mind awareness into our daily life, releasing tensions and allowing our nervous system to relax and restore, allowing our parasympathetic nervous system to return to ‘rest and digest’ instead of remaining in ‘fight or flight’. Our body has an innate wisdom to heal enabling us to work with it to increase our well-being and enjoyment.
Whilst we are creating a deeper physical, mental and emotional experience for relaxation, self-enquiry and healing with the connection to breath, body and internal sensations that move us beyond the physical aspect of asana, let’s not forget that this is also helps purify our subtle energy pathways - our chakras, nadis and koshas. Everything weaves together in beautiful harmonious union.
Always working within your own range of movement and at your own pace, without feeling self-conscious, being content with where you are in your healing journey today, because, after all, every day is different. Experiencing rest as also being productive. Working gently at aligning and understanding our senses and sensations within our body without expectation.
This deeper exploration of yoga, creativity within yoga and experiential learning of our true Self will help us with personal growth and transformation in our day-to-day life. Let’s begin 2026 by discovering that you already have the inner guidance within you to feel nurtured, to feel connected, rejuvenated, motivated, inspired, empowered… And day by day, just noticing the small changes that you experience.
Let 2026 Be A Year Where Yoga Heals. xx
